CitiWide Computer Training Center was honored to be one of eight DC organizations to receive DC’s first-ever African Community Grants by Mayor Gray and DC’s Office of African Affairs. CitiWide was selected as one of the awardees due to its service to the community. The funds were given to enhance the capacity of the selected organizations which provide programs and support in one of the following areas, as defined by the grant: workforce and economic development, health and human services, youth education and engagement, and the promotion of African arts, culture and/or humanities.

In a comment regarding the grants, Mayor Gray stated: ““It is timely and appropriate that we celebrate this year’s Africa Day with a commitment to strengthening community-based organizations which are the frontline institutions that provide services to our African residents. Funding these organizations in turn, enable many more individuals to access resources, improve their quality of life, and ultimately contribute to the city they now call home.”
